Preservation March

October 28-29, 2006 near Middleburg , VA

Mike Huston and Aaron Hooks attended the annual preservation march organized by Rob Hodge at the historic Welbourne Plantation.  As Confederates, we marched to the village of Unison and back, about 8 miles, expecting to run into the Federal cavalry detachment, but somehow missed.  On Sunday morning, we marched to Goose Creek Bridge , again expecting an encounter with Federals, but had no such luck.  While the event and the weather were fantastic, the best part was the money everyone raised for battlefield preservation.

Historic Welbourne Plantation was the site of the preservation.

Mike and Aaron pose for a photo in front of the house.

The guys take a short break at an old Quaker cemetery on the way to Unison.

Mike changes his wet socks during the break after fording Panther Skin Creek.

The guys begin fording another creek on the return from Unison.

Several of the guys pose for a photo on Sunday.
