Battle of the Ohio-Erie Canal

September 15-16, 2007 at Zoar , OH

Several members of the 78th PVI, Co. F attended the bi-annual reenactment at the historic village of Zoar .  Members joined our friends from the 23rd OH, commanded by Keith Workman.  During Saturday’s battle, Federal forces made several assaults against the entrenched Confederates, but failed to overtake them.  For Sunday’s battle, the Federal forces were able to use superior numbers to overwhelm the Rebels.  On Sunday morning, members of the 23rd OH and 78th PA played a game of baseball against the Muffins, an 1860s period team, but were unable to crack their tough defense.
